Frequently Asked Questions

Why does a Soma cube have seven pieces?

The Soma cube uses every irregular shape you can make by joining three or four cubes face to face: one of three cubes and six of four. Together they make 27 cubes, exactly a 3x3x3 cube.

What does 7+1 mean?

Seven pieces plus a box, frame or tray. The extra part is not something you assemble, it is the space the pieces have to fit into, and it is usually what makes the puzzle hard.

What is a TIC puzzle?

A Turning Interlocking Cube - or TIC - is a 3D mechanical puzzle where pieces must be rotated in a precise sequence to disassemble and reassemble a cube. What makes TIC puzzles special is that although every single one ends in the same shape, the sequence of moves to get there is completely different each time. Same cube. Totally different journey. Every TIC you pick up is a new challenge you haven't solved before.
