Galette is a 3D packing puzzle with a simple goal - pack all 5 tetromino pieces inside the box. But a simple goal doesn't mean an easy solution.
A tetromino piece is made of 4 voxels, or 4 cubes attached together.
There are 2 openings - a wide one from the top and a small one from the side.
However, this small restriction changes everything: not only is it blocking the pieces' way inside, but also restricts their path inside the box while hiding them from your vision.
This simple addition turns Galette into a considerable challenge. Do you think you can solve it?

Why Is It So Hard?
The top opening looks generous enough - and for the first few pieces, it is. But the side opening changes the rules entirely. It forces certain pieces through a narrow path, which means your usual stacking instincts stop working. Pieces that fit perfectly from above simply won't cooperate when the side constraint is in play. You have to think in three dimensions, rethink orientations you've already dismissed, and stay patient when every attempt seems almost right. Almost.

As usual, I started by predicting the last piece and simulating it outside the frame. However, despite spending a long time on it, I couldn't find a single potential shape.
How stupid of me!
At some random moment, I realized that I had made a big mistake. I think solving this puzzle requires both observation and rational thinking.
It's tricky, but quite satisfying.
This puzzle is great! I found it to be surprisingly tricky, and finally discovering the solution was very satisfying. The pieces and container are also very well made, with a nice texture and sturdy feel. I also love the color scheme!
It looks like a simple packing puzzle until you realize that those holes limit how you can pack the pieces in. Not only is the order important, but the orientation is too. Don't rush your analysis of the box. There is more to it than meets the eye. It is quite clever. I liked it so much that I got several to give to friends.

Usually not. Sometimes you can find the solution on my YouTube channel. If not, feel free to reach out for hints!

Good. That's the whole point.
But if "stuck" turns into "frustrated and not having fun anymore," email me. I'll send you a hint if you want a nudge. No judgment. Some puzzles took me days. A few took weeks. Some took months. Some took years. And some I have never solved - and that is part of the appeal.

What Is a TIC Puzzle?
TIC stands for Turning Interlocking Cubes. They're a family of puzzles where wooden pieces interlock and rotate into a cube shape. The solve isn't just sliding pieces - you have to find the right rotations, in the right order. They're some of my favorite puzzles in the store.
Why Is Everything Turquoise?
I grew up near the sea in Israel. When life got loud or overwhelming, that's where I went to reset. Sit, watch the water, breathe. Things would settle.
