MINIMA Slider was Greg's exchange puzzle at the 2026 International Puzzle Party in Assisi, Italy - an international gathering of a closed circle of puzzle collectors, where brand-new puzzles are introduced and exchanged.
The Design
Puzzle designer Frederic Boucher developed the MINIMA Slider after solving Diagonal Twins, an award-winning puzzle by Yasuhiro Hashimoto. The original Diagonal Twins introduced an unusual geometric relationship between its pieces - Boucher took that idea and pushed it into new territory with the MINIMA format.
What Makes It Different
What makes the Slider mechanically distinct from a standard packing puzzle is the sliding constraint. The pieces do not simply drop or press into position. They must be sequenced and slid into place in a specific order. That single change eliminates trial-and-error as a viable strategy. You cannot brute-force your way through it. Every move requires deliberate intent, and placing one piece incorrectly makes the next step impossible.
The puzzle has a compact footprint - small enough to sit on a desk without demanding space, substantial enough to feel purposeful in your hands. You will reach points where everything seems correct and nothing moves. Then something shifts, the sequence clicks, and the last piece slides flush with the frame.

Although there have been many challenges in the MINIMA series so far, this version features an entirely new method of solving the puzzle. Although it looks complex, it can be solved using logical, step-by-step reasoning. While it requires a touch of manual dexterity, I feeled the parts move with such smoothness that it is a puzzle I will want to try again and again.

Usually not. Sometimes you can find the solution on my YouTube channel. If not, feel free to reach out for hints!
What If I Get Stuck?
Good. That's the whole point.
But if "stuck" turns into "frustrated and not having fun anymore," email me. I'll send you a hint if you want a nudge. No judgment. Some puzzles took me days. A few took weeks. Some took months. Some took years. And some I have never solved - and that is part of the appeal.

What Is a TIC Puzzle?
TIC stands for Turning Interlocking Cubes. They're a family of puzzles where wooden pieces interlock and rotate into a cube shape. The solve isn't just sliding pieces - you have to find the right rotations, in the right order. They're some of my favorite puzzles in the store.
Why Is Everything Turquoise?
I grew up near the sea in Israel. When life got loud or overwhelming, that's where I went to reset. Sit, watch the water, breathe. Things would settle.
